Members of the Occupy the Roads Foundation gathered with Occupy Pueblo and decided to transform the vacant brick building into a community center. A large team of community activists and residents cleared out the trash, cleaned up the interior, and with the help of a grant, fixed the roof and the electrical system, and painted and decorated the interior. The process is captured in the following video:

Last night Pueblo House had a few young 20 year olds who were interested in finding out more about Monsanto and what they’re doing to our food supply.  With a growing concern about foods being genetically modified they wanted information and answers.   Colorado is fighting back with the “right to know” request for labeling.   Petitions will be gathered and signatures submitted to get this on the ballot for November.

May 24th will be a global day of protest with large marches taking place across the globe.   We will be there supporting the march against Monsanto set to take place on Northern Blvd on the south side.  We’re expecting quite a crowd to show up and help educate the public on what a GMO is and how it affects those that ingest it.

We ended the night watching the movie “End of the Road” which talks about the money printing business of the Federal Reserve. (more…)

Wave of Action made a ripple in Pueblo, CO

Let the WAVE…begin! We made our first ripple in the ocean of CHANGE!
The Global Wave of Action was alive and well in Pueblo, CO! We parked the “V” in a busy supermarket on a very busy street and within minutes met our first onlooker, Dustin. After that many more including Dorin, John & Rhonda, Sade & Jacqueline, Brenda & Hannah (Happy Birthday), Greg & Tom, Lois, Lacey and Monica….all people who we met, and conversed with, then educated about the issues we face. They now know about OTR and all we’re doing around the country, and also at Pueblo House. They understand our mission to regain sanity in government. All of those we met were outraged at the injustice being inflicted on the middle class, or the contaminating of our food, or the raping of our land and our bought politicians. But then the same story…what can be done?   (more…)

What’s happening on 5th St.?

We are planning a small gathering/pot luck at Pueblo House 816 E 5th…. on Feb. 8th. around 6pm.  Rick Stanton has agreed to play again and we’re trying to get a few more locals to sing/play. It’ll be open mic night. With the weather so cold we’ll be inside where it will be quite cozy & warm. We’ll introduce our plans, get your ideas and most of all include the kids who will be instrumental in running the programs.  Please come join us.

We had Renee and Bonnie visit the Pueblo House and what a great meeting of the minds!  Both had seen the article in the Chieftain. Renee (2nd visit) brought the start of a Hydroponics system and she is going to be setting us up with a grow/aquarium unit. This was Bonnie’s first time to PH and she was thrilled at what’s going on here and what we’re planning to do in future.  Her boyfriend builds chicken coops and she’s going to ask if he would supervise the building of a great coop (made from our shed).  We already have the pen and other things there.   We’re looking for some artists to work on the boat and make something out of it.  Ideas?

Ken Shore will be coming back (from Denver) on Sat. to finish the final electrical needs. Can’t wait to see him, as we always have a few laughs. After this weekend we’ll be in a position to have the final inspection redone. Then we’re off to restore the Stone House next, for evaluation (so far a quote for the water main break is going to cost $2280) and material gathering, costs.  We now have a prospect of another house and that’s being considered for outstanding taxes approx. $2600.

Glen, one of our directors (who recently had a stroke) is doing well on the road to recovery. He’s getting physical therapy now and plans are that he’s going to be released on Feb. 7th if all goes well.  He’s in Parkview Hospital in room 309 (B) where he has a phone. His sense of humor is still alive and well. Some days he’s a bit more tired than others but considering what he’s been through he’s doing great.

Joe is finalizing some trim on the kitchen walls and been getting lots of little things done around PH. I put all the files into our new filing cabinet, where we’re now organized. With files in one place it sure helps to be able to find things.  Been extremely busy around the house….no shortage of things to do. (more…)

Rock’n the “Li’l Stone House”

November 16th, 2013 | Posted by Occupy The Roads in Lil Stone House | Pueblo | Pueblo House | Stone House - (Comments Off on Rock’n the “Li’l Stone House”)
A real work of art!

We finished all the things we wanted to get done on the house last night. This morning we had breakfast & meeting to set out our priorities/tasks for the day and everything went beautifully. What a great event it was tonight. The talent we witnessed was fantastic. It’s so great to see the kids (little & big) enjoying art and music. Three little kids in particular were busy painting some wonderful art with Dad looking on.

We were all blown away when Cage (next door) rapped about his Gramma passing away recently. Then his sister Chasey did a couple numbers…followed by our own Alais Clay who performed her newest number (written only a few days before) and outstanding as usual.  Next up was Tammy with some poetry, then Samantha assisted by Guitarist from their PCC (Pueblo Community College). Next up was Cliff, who had seen the ad in the Chieftain newspaper last Wed. and, who came to play violin, then guitar and another instrument called a Didgeridoo, a long horn type thingy and very cool.  Alas our Stephanie (Alais Clay) belted out another during the night but with her sore throat was really struggling but still awesome. This is our route for the next couple days as we head West to Pueblo, Colorado from Detroit Michigan.  Stephen, Joe and I are in Kalamazoo and the journey begins as we look forward to arriving in Pueblo. There we will be working on building a kids Music & Art Center all while trying to bring sanity to a Government that has lead us astray.  Let the strategies begin!   In the meantime here’s the journey plans.  We’re trying to avoid freezing overnight temperatures in Denver/Pueblo area.  By Sunday we’re clear.  Therefore we’re going to participate in the Enbridge pre-trial event Thursday at 10 am in Battle Creek. the kids with Alais Clay (musician and artist)

Pueblo House is coming together and today our newest addition gave an outstanding performance to a tiny audience and made them smile with art & music. Alais Clay has started the “dream school” which consists of after school and weekend programs for kids on the east side of Pueblo. The house is now equipped with hot water, running toilets and many other upgrades (renovating since June last year) to make it a home and cozy meeting place. The OTR “V” will be heading to Pueblo right after the “Toronto tour” and plans are to start strategic meetings where all organizations can come together in (more…)

Rally against Monsanto, huge success today in Pueblo

Today we had a great turnout for M25. Monsanto has been genetically modifying our foods for some time. They do not label those that are and some studies are producing sad stats showing how they’re making people sick. We’re just asking that they label so the public can decide to eat them or ban them. But it should be our right to refuse GMO’s. The Pueblo people showed up today to voice their concerns and the honks from people going by were many!

People get it and we educated many about Monsant today!  For more information watch Genetic Roulette  and Check out claims against Monsanto here
