The OTR book is available. It’s been a few long, grueling days over the past couple weeks getting the book to print, and making an electronic format available on Kindle. After 3 years in the making it’s finally done. Thanks to thank Jones (who airbrushed the ‘V’) for designing the cover and helping me quite a bit over the past few days. I would also like to thank all my friends who helped edit the content (Catherine Calderon, Nita Backes with some parts done by Cate Mugasis & Randy Kalish). I have copies of “MoVement” coming next week and “Who Put the ‘V’ in Occupy the original edition (arriving the following week). I decided to have two titles to encourage everyone to read it regardless of what they think of Occupy. Sometimes people are quick to judge from the title. We all know the media did a good job portraying the movement in a negative light. With book can be ordered now (link on the right). I’d welcome any feedback from the readers. Safe journey into 2017 everyone! Much Love…Janet (more…)
We’ve been busy working on our music house. The OTR Foundation has 3 houses that were donated on the Eastside (812, 816 & 824 E 5th St.) of Pueblo. We’re using these spaces to ensure youth have a stress free – safe place to go where they enjoy a few things that schools may not offer. Our aim is to give kids something fun to do and at the same time expose them to things that they might find their passion. Rather than work at minimum wage jobs it would be nice to see them build a career doing what they love. We’ll expose kids to more music, art and media. We’re creating a space where young people can learn, play and mentor each other. The original Pueblo House is finished, but we have so much stuff (and a whole lot of musical instruments) inside, we’ve run out of room. Renovations are finalizing on the music house and with all the construction, we’ve not had the time (or space) to run programs. The music house will be our main focus until spring when we will open the space for music jams & lessons. The original Pueblo House (816 E 5th) will be turned into a games room, library and be our art space with lessons by local artists. (more…)
The face painting for Peace & Love Fest was held on the courthouse steps today and the kids were enjoying the awesome weather as they played and had faces painted.
After we took the ‘V’ through town and on our way back heard honks and saw peace signs being waved. We pulled over and met Catlin, Trevour and Chelsey from Oklahoma. They belong to the Lakota and Choctaw nations are heading to Standing Rock, ND to support the water protesters. (more…)
OTR is happy and proud to stand with the hero’s on the front line protecting our waterways. If the houses weren’t taking every minute of our day (to get up and running before the snow flies) we’d be there too. But, we’re watching it and stand in solidarity with our brothers and sisters on the front lines who put their lives on hold to ensure all of us are protected and the water free from contamination and big oil! Stand with us today in Pueblo as we embrace national stand with #NODAPL at 2 pm.
Just found a whole lot of pics on another hard-drive (the main one stopped working) and wanted to share all of these wonderful places and people I got to visit with, while touring. They’re in alpha order for the most part. Five years later and occupy still lives on, sort of, kind of…well a few of us are still here! This is a sample of the city’s and towns visited. Happy 5th to everyone in Occupy!
Coming up 5 years of occupying for OTR

Members of the Occupy the Roads Foundation gathered with Occupy Pueblo and decided to transform the vacant brick building into a community center. A large team of community activists and residents cleared out the trash, cleaned up the interior, and with the help of a grant, fixed the roof and the electrical system, and painted and decorated the interior. The process is captured in the following video:
Spent a few hours hanging out in Kalamazoo before Tammy Hibner arrived . Didn’t get to see old friend Chris maybe next time through. It was peaceful where I was able (with Tammy’s help -massage therapist) get comfortable again and drove west of Chicago before stopping for the night. Then it was off to Des Moines.
Passed…..Iowa & Nebraska and saw corn…lots of corn. Passed a wicked innovation center. (more…)
This is an interview done by Janet while in FDR Park during the DNC waiting for Jill Stein to speak. While speaking to Salvatore another lady (Martha Rollins) spoke up and gave her rendition of what happened. Martha was there with Code Pink at the time of Berta’s murder. Interesting and somewhat disturbing!
In her final days, Berta Cáceres was bombarded with texts and calls warning her to give up the fight against the Agua Zarca dam, or else.
There’s so much going on that people are not being made aware of and it pains me to see how folks are prepared to follow blindly ….based on limited information.
After leaving Philly I can say there are thousands of disgruntled people trying to have a voice, but the media are not covering the story. At the DNC….50k in the streets and over 10k in the park the night the delegates walked out. We no longer have to vote for the lesser of two evils. I’m concerned that those who just want to see a woman in office will make poor decisions. Yes, we need a woman, but not Hilary! We have plenty of great women in this country who would make a great president. But our choices are always limited to those who are the chosen ones! I’m not buying it and others are NOT buying it either. I’ve spent 5 years staying connected to people in the know. I feel I’ve earned the right to state my convictions and back them with plenty of facts. I’ve toured the country for over 3 years listening to ordinary people and then toured with Iraq Vets Against War…. soldiers who came home broken, beaten and struggling to understand this crazy country that continues to use them as canon fodder. The “Code Pink” women managed another protest at the DNC, where signs were unfurled and a message was told. That message: Free the Whistle Blowers! & Stop the Drones!
All was good until they found Crystal (who blocked a few views) then escorted her into the lobby area where they then circled her with 8 or more security goons.
Crystal was nervous since they were detaining her without charging. Immediate I asked why she was being detained when there were others who had been holding signs up in the convention (more…)
