July 4th – The day has arrived…… the crowd is just beginning to mobilize. Many feeling the pain of last nights celebrations and are groping for water on what will certainly be another very hot day! Unfortunately the occupiers were rained on briefly this morning around 6 am. Still no relief from humidity! I’m guessing many were so exhausted they never knew until waking up to a damp blanket! Yesterday started out with an early (8 am) trip to the Convention Center for me with one other occupier (Diane) and a journalist Trisha from Mint Press. I was curious to find out what the 99 Declaration would be doing and I wanted to give them the benefit of the doubt since I had heard derogatory rumors. I had entered myself as a delegate because it was the only way you could be part of the convention (a candidate for your district). (more…)

Having the Quaker church has turned into a real treat. Can’t image having to worry about parking on the streets in this heat and constantly running the generator would have been really hard on us and the “V”. So big thanks to the Church for making us an awesome retreat where we occupiers can do our thing without being harassed. We get enough of that from the police! (more…)

Occupy Philly-NATGAT

We’re finally here in Philly. The trip was made with ease and songs sung, art made and good conversations until we found everyone sound asleep in the back. It had been a long night and some of us only getting to sleep in the wee hours of the morning. With sleep deprivation and incredible heat wave we forged our way to Philly. It was decided among a few of us (when we heard from Chris Wambaugh of Kalamazoo, MI) that we would meet, them from DC and us from Newark so we could make our grand entrance together. (more…)
