MMM Nov 5

The March Against Corruption is an international campaign to raise awareness about the corrupting influence of money and special interests in governance and public policy making; to provide a forum for people, to organize and speak out against corruption; and to educate the public about the consequences of corruption.  …

Be sure to join in the Global Masked March in Pueblo on Nov. 5th and raise your voice about the corruption in politics.   No more bought politicians.   It’s time for a change in congress.  We need real people finding solutions for real problems.

Focus on climate change

October 11th, 2014 | Posted by Occupy The Roads in Occupy Camps - (Comments Off on Focus on climate change)

In recent months many voices have called for larger, escalated action on climate change. We agree. At the beginning of November, as the election campaigns conclude, we call for multiple, consecutive days of climate direct action in Washington, D.C., and elsewhere. Vote we must, but we must do much more.

We hurtle toward a climate precipice with one foot occasionally, tentatively tapping the brake but the other simultaneously flooring the accelerator on our fossil-fueled economy. (from Popular Resistance)

Protests around the world respond to assault on Palestine

We stand in support of all those in Palestine who are being attacked by Israel.   Protests were organized in cities around the world today in response to the ongoing assault on Palestine and the Palestinian people.   We’re outraged that a Palestinian 16-year-old (Muhammad Abu Khdeir0)  was brutally murdered by Israeli settlers.  The bombing of Gaza and the killing of over 300 Palestinians by occupation forces, the mass arrests of over 1000, and the raids, attacks, tear-gassing, invasions and closure that Palestinians are being subjected to are crimes against humanity. Lost in space but surely this can’t be?

Once again our government hard at work!  I had to call the IRS today to find out why (after OTR Foundation was approved for 501c3) we’re not showing on the website as an official 501c3. Appears they “lost” yes “fallen through the cracks again” our application and if I hadn’t phoned would have never been added. This is supposed to be done automatically after being approved. We were approved in April. So now they tell me it could take up to 8 weeks for it to appear on the master list. (more…)

Immigration reform rally today in Bessemer Park

Immigration Reform Rally
We attended an immigration and deportation rally today in Bessemer Park. It was both moving and very eye opening. It was especially emotional to listen to people like Manuel Valenzuela who talked about his story to all those who came out to show their support for immigration reform. After serving in the Vietnam war (for America) Manuel then had to deal with immigration, risking deportation all while fighting to stay in the US. His speech will be uploaded shortly. Many of those present came to see the “V” afterward, where we took plenty of pictures.  (more…)

Janet is spending time with her husband, kids & grandkids.  While helping out the grandkids transition to daycare she’ll be reorganizing, planning and  strategizing the next steps for OTR.

Pueblo House is 75% done and just waiting on some skilled people to finish drywalling and put hardwood floors down.  June 12th will mark the One Year Anniversary since being donated.  Most all plumbing, electrical and upstairs are finished.  Fixtures need to be placed once the walls are complete.  The house will be used for meetings, education and helping the local community find resources to the many issues facing the Eastside (teen pregnancy, drugs, etc.). It was a busy couple days getting the “V” ready for storage for a month while everyone is having a break over the holidays to be with family and friends.   We cleaned and organized our beauty so she’ll be ready for the next tour of the West Coast.    Big thanks to Raya and her friend for allowing us the use of her car so we could get to the airport.  Thanks to gas purchases on credit my flight home cost a whopping $2.50.   Airmiles are my best friend.  On our way out, we just had to stop for a bite on the way so this little sandwich truck & art place was perfect!   Highly recommend the pastrami! Where to for occupy?

As we head out from New Orleans on Wed. we’ll stop over in Baton Rouge, Houston and then Austin, TX, where after an important interview, we’ll take a short break over the holidays for a much needed hiatus.   Then we’ll continue our tour west with a message of end the war and get the money out of Politics!

In order to get this Country back on track it is the view of this particular writer that we must organize ourselves, and others, to make a significant impact on things like; getting rid of the Federal Reserve and Getting money out of politics. With only those two changes we would see many other things fall into place. Paying interest on money to be printed is the most ludicrous thing and yet we do it, and have done it for 100 years. We all know it needs to stop. Now, it’s a matter of figuring out the what, when and how to do it. (more…)

Cap. Ray Lewis joined OTR from Nov. 11 until Nov. 28th.  During which time we visited Raleigh (for the 2nd time) where Jeremy Gilchrist gave us an “On the V” music session.   Afterward, we visit Columbia, SC where I interviewed Vennie Deas Moore (historian) and got caught up on what was happening there.  We then attended the “School of Americas” in Fort Benning, GA, participating in the protest against torture technique (enhanced interrogation) training.   There, we met and interviewed an ex-CIA official (Jeff) and Louis Wolf founder of “Covert Action Quarterly” magazine.   Our final stop was Mobile, Al where Ray had his RV repaired (after hitting a deer on the way to Frederick) and while having some down time we had some wonderful in depth talks and educated ourselves with documentaries.   One night we decided to watch the old 1950’s movie “Grapes of Wrath” which made me realize…. things are the same many, many years later, sadly! Guitarmy & the 99 mile march headed to Zuccotti today

July 11-March & Zuccotti

The march went from Stapleton Park in Staten Island to New York’s infamous Zuccotti Park. After everyone gathered in the park the guitarmy folks set aboard the ferry. The music on the ferry was thunderous and tourists sang along. Noticeable were the two coast guard boats with M-16’s on the front. Uhm was that for Occupy? There certainly has been a great deal of money spent to make sure 60+ musical occupiers are kept obedient. (more…)
