Colorado Progressives remember Ludlow Massacre 100 yr anniversary.

April 23rd, 2014 | Posted by Occupy The Roads in CPC meetings | Pueblo - (Comments Off on Colorado Progressives remember Ludlow Massacre 100 yr anniversary.)

Attended a great meeting tonight with CPC (Colorado Progressives). The topic was based on the 100 year anniversary of the Ludlow massacre.

The coal miners had very little in the way of protection from big corps who used them like slaves and when they fought back many died including women and children who were burned alive. It’s a sad thing to think how this kind of thing can happen but really…are we all that much more civilized today? Crazy stuff still goes on in the name of big money influence and corps who can buy whatever, including slave labor (let’s call it that when a company earns ginormous profits and pays so little to its people).
Tonight I met some very wonderful people tonight, some from Denver, who are planning to join us at our next outdoor concert @ Pueblo House. We’re thinking of May 10th as the date if Rick Stanton (PCC) and Alais Clay have the date open.  We’re hoping Ed Wingfield (from Denver) will join us and come sing the blues. (more…)

OTR gives birth to OTR Foundation

April 23rd, 2014 | Posted by Occupy The Roads in Pueblo - (Comments Off on OTR gives birth to OTR Foundation)

The OTR team is in Pueblo CO where we’re donating our time to bring a music & art center to East Pueblo.  The house was boarded up for 5 years and needs plenty of TLC.    The company is now two entities  OTR (the “V”) and OTR Foundation (the Properties).   OTR is a 501c4 and OTRF a 501c3.  This opens plenty of doors for grants and other opportunities that will help us get supplies and resources to finish the houses so that we can start our programs.   We’re seeking volunteers and skilled laborers to help us get to the finish line.  There are boarded up homes just waiting for new occupants.  We can help anyone who wishes to take one over and restore.  (more…)

Immigration reform rally today in Bessemer Park

April 5th, 2014 | Posted by Occupy The Roads in Occupy Camps - (Comments Off on Immigration reform rally today in Bessemer Park)
We attended an immigration and deportation rally today in Bessemer Park. It was both moving and very eye opening. It was especially emotional to listen to people like Manuel Valenzuela who talked about his story to all those who came out to show their support for immigration reform. After serving in the Vietnam war (for America) Manuel then had to deal with immigration, risking deportation all while fighting to stay in the US. His speech will be uploaded shortly. Many of those present came to see the “V” afterward, where we took plenty of pictures.  (more…)

Wave of Action made a ripple in Pueblo, CO

April 4th, 2014 | Posted by Occupy The Roads in Pueblo | WaveofAction - (Comments Off on Wave of Action made a ripple in Pueblo, CO)
Let the WAVE…begin! We made our first ripple in the ocean of CHANGE!
The Global Wave of Action was alive and well in Pueblo, CO! We parked the “V” in a busy supermarket on a very busy street and within minutes met our first onlooker, Dustin. After that many more including Dorin, John & Rhonda, Sade & Jacqueline, Brenda & Hannah (Happy Birthday), Greg & Tom, Lois, Lacey and Monica….all people who we met, and conversed with, then educated about the issues we face. They now know about OTR and all we’re doing around the country, and also at Pueblo House. They understand our mission to regain sanity in government. All of those we met were outraged at the injustice being inflicted on the middle class, or the contaminating of our food, or the raping of our land and our bought politicians. But then the same story…what can be done?   (more…)
