Our little Valentine….”the lil red house”

February 14th, 2013 | Posted by Occupy The Roads in Pueblo | Pueblo House

Happy Valentines Day to all!   Our little Red gem (816 E. 5th St.) is getting quite a makeover these days.  Trades people file through assessing, measuring and fixing things.  We had Duke visit today and found out that Pueblo has quite a bike community.  He is excited to meet Joseph (also an enthusiast).  We’re holding a meet & greet at Pueblo House on Sat. around 3 pm so everyone can see how far along we are and get to know the crew arriving from Austin.

Denise and I had a lovely V day flower arrive when Glen showed up with a rose for each of us.  Then a package arrived from Randy with a dozen red roses, a stuffed bear and some chocolates.  Joseph is on his way with Ronnie and Randy (not husband Randy). We are quite lucky to have such good men in our lives.

Today the plumbers picked up where they left off yesterday.  These old homes sure are crooked.  Noticeably so, when putting in subfloor.  Tino and Cory got the floor down upstairs but it’s slanting to the back wall so we have to level the shower as we go.   A couple walls had to be installed in the upstairs bathroom so the pipes could be run.  One wall was put up and another will go up tomorrow.  The lino will be put down as well.   Duke has offered to help with the wall tomorrow and the gang from Austin should be here by the afternoon.  We told “Poor Man Plumbing” to wait until Monday to finish that way we’d have our crew here to help fix the walls and get the kitchen counter in.    The guys here now are not familiar with carpentry or plumbing so we called in some help.   We have to get a counter top & cabinets for the kitchen.  The one donated by Anne C.’s son-in-law was not a good fit.  Glen and I will pick one up tomorrow so the gas stove can be hooked up on Monday.
