Today we packed up the “V” and headed to Denver so we could support Alais Clay who was filming her music video on the Capitol steps. Denise, Cory, myself from OTR and then Matrina, Denise, Luca, Matao and Rudy filled the RV and we rolled out of Pueblo around 9:30. With hot coffee and lots to talk about during the trip we arrived in Denver around 11:30. While we were waiting for Alais to arrive I interviewed Matrina to find out more about “Idle No More” in Pueblo. She & Rudy have been instrumental in bring INM here. A native of Pueblo she and her friends know the city and all its issues. They understand what’s needed to keep the kids out of trouble.
Around noon Alais and Joe spotted us and pictures were taken around the “V” before heading to the front of the Capitol Bldg where we spread out the poster board and markers. We’ve been listening to Alais since receiving her CD as a gift in Miami. Aria Anderson introduced us to her music and we’ve been in love ever since. Her music is thought provoking and the lyrics brilliant. She gets to the heart of political problems and identifies the issues we face as a society, who is brain washed and marketed to death by greedy corps. Since Jan. 2012 we’ve played her music rolling through cities, participating in parades and just hanging out. She is unique and we wanted to show our love by heading to Denver, so we could support her while filming her new music video.
We made signs on the Capitol steps in the frigid temperatures. Alais had handfuls of CD’s for us to give away (yes give away, because that’s how she rolls). With a big heart, full of love, and a fistful of yellow daisy’s she lead us through the streets of downtown Denver so we could educate the public and protest what’s so very wrong in this Country.
We left Denver around 4 pm and headed to Chubby’s for some absolutely fantastic “smothered fries”. Now that’s a good day!
