Occupying the Holidays!!

It was a busy couple days getting the “V” ready for storage for a month while everyone is having a break over the holidays to be with family and friends.   We cleaned and organized our beauty so she’ll be ready for the next tour of the West Coast.    Big thanks to Raya and her friend for allowing us the use of her car so we could get to the airport.  Thanks to gas purchases on credit my flight home cost a whopping $2.50.   Airmiles are my best friend.  On our way out, we just had to stop for a bite on the way so this little sandwich truck & art place was perfect!   Highly recommend the pastrami! Occupying Austin again

We arrived in Austin about 1/2 hour after the GA started by the time we parked the “V” a couple blocks away.  We recognized a few familiar faces and were pleasantly surprised to see an old acquaintance from El Paso who had just moved here a month ago and who remembered me very well.  Appears El Paso is still going strong too.

We went to Austin Java after the meeting and hung out for a bit before leaving.  We headed north and occupied the Walmart where we met Denise and her boyfriend Joseph.  We are now at their house and loving all the affection from Kimbo who is a very impressive and well trained dog.  They have chickens here too and Joseph build the coop which is awesome.  I think we might have to replicate that in Pueblo :-). Occupy Houston GA & Premilla Vyas

We rolled into Houston in time to participate in their GA & Food not Bombs event in front of the downtown library.   We met some friends from our previous visit (Jorge, Jamin, and others) and then met new people who’s stories were impressive.  We admired how organized they all were feeding the many (up to 150 4 x per week) both OH & FNB.  It was a real pleasure to unite again.  What a fun night as we all ended up at Premilla’s house, filled with food, music and then interviewing Premilla (84 yr old women rights activist from India). Her remarkable story coming soon.

We were planning to stay for the music concert of Nicks but decided to catch Austin’s GA which are only on Monday evenings @ 6pm.   Before leaving Houston we met Vi and Eric for an interview (they did on us) and left around 4 pm.   About an hour outside (Giddings) Austin, we stopped for gas and there, we met a very (more…)

Just made some wonderful new Occupy friends in Occupy Baton Rouge, Baton Rouge, L.A.. Thank you Ward Reilly and Melissa for a wonderful time at your home and Occupy Baton Rouge (Masa, Courtney, Josh and the rest) for your support. We were under direct orders to “chill out”. Interviewing -University of New Orleans

” Today we drove out to the UNO where we interviewed at random. Immediately upon arriving we found two med. students India & Yasmin who talked with us for some time. When we were leaving we noticed Jose sitting on a bench and decided to ask if he’d talk to us. At first he was hesitant, but then he started to open up and with Ty on camera we rolled until the camera was overheating and we’d exhausted both our batteries.   (more…)

Where to for occupy?

As we head out from New Orleans on Wed. we’ll stop over in Baton Rouge, Houston and then Austin, TX, where after an important interview, we’ll take a short break over the holidays for a much needed hiatus.   Then we’ll continue our tour west with a message of end the war and get the money out of Politics!

In order to get this Country back on track it is the view of this particular writer that we must organize ourselves, and others, to make a significant impact on things like; getting rid of the Federal Reserve and Getting money out of politics. With only those two changes we would see many other things fall into place. Paying interest on money to be printed is the most ludicrous thing and yet we do it, and have done it for 100 years. We all know it needs to stop. Now, it’s a matter of figuring out the what, when and how to do it. (more…)

Occupied the Stage-NOLA

Now here at occupy the Stage and enjoying the company of some people I hadn’t see for a while (some back to March of this year).  The warehouse is quite different in that it has more rooms, lofts, tools and artwork.  It’s always a pleasure to be here in the midst of all the creativity and vision.  Raya & Ty had been tracking my arrival so they were here when I got here.  Tara, Justin and Robert filled me in on the premise and then that evening we had Liz, Callie & Brie show up and we all discussed education since all were students.  Once again I find myself running out of disc space and having to download all while using the phone to finish up.
