Sitting in front of Perry Square which was home to the Erie Occupiers for months. We’ve been mingling with the Erie Occupiers since arriving on Monday. We always appreciate people like Veronica who allow us to OCCUPY her driveway. She hooked us up with electricity and wifi so we could continue to bring you coverage online. Yesterday we took a day off to celebrate with our new Erie friends in the park. The media came down to cover the story and cover it they did. We were the leading story that then went into the previous event today, a protest against budget cuts affecting people with disabilities. (more…)

We arrived around 8 pm on Sat. and had a gathering at Elspeth and Russ’s place where we met some truly awesome people. No shortage of great folks in the Occupy Movement! We shared stories and got updates on things happening in and around Erie. The fracking is an issue here like so many other places. (more…)

Occupy Cleveland – 99th City

June 8th, 2012 | Posted by Occupy The Roads in Cleveland - (Comments Off on Occupy Cleveland – 99th City)

Cleveland is alive and well. One of the longest standing encampments from Oct. 6th to May 5th. A very dedicated bunch who have a great report with the police. In fact the story is that the police had to be called in from another County to dismantle the camp because the Cleveland Police didn’t want to do it. The Occupiers (as we all do) fight for the rights of everyone who is feeling the cuts and dips into pensions. They are the 99% too. (more…)

Toledo was great. Once again, an amazing bunch who welcomed us with open arms. Not only did they invite us to their GA but bought us food for the road. Special thanks to Dan who brought us water & pop and those that made a donation to the “V” fuel fund. We sure enjoyed meeting you all and sharing stories. Big thanks to Mike for co-ordinating the visit with us and allowing us to occupy in front of your home for a couple hours. (more…)

Occupy Detroit

June 4th

We spent a couple more days in Detroit on our way back from Kalamazoo. The team here are awesome. They ran power to the “V” which was parked on the adjacent lot. They have a beautiful garden on the property which is owned by the Grocer across the road. We had a bonfire at night and got to know a little about Detroit.

From the time we arrived, John and Joe (owners of Gigante-grocery store) were absolutely supportive and told us we could park on the empty lot or in their grocery parking lot. We got really good service too. I’m in admiration of the things that are going well in Detroit. Some very dedicated and hard working people take care of things at 5900 Michigan Ave. where Occupy was invited as a tenant in lieu of fixing things. They have done an amazing job. Repairs and building are all being volunteered. Our hats go off to Detroit for making a difference in their community. (more…)

Occupy Kalamazoo, MI

June 2nd, 2012 | Posted by Occupy The Roads in Kalamazoo - (Comments Off on Occupy Kalamazoo, MI)

We are in Michigan with occupy kalamazoo, a great bunch of people the city, not so nice. They had a parade today which is sort of community/arts parade. It seems like it was ok to bring in occupy theroads until they actually saw it. Excuse, its to big, you didn’t give us enough notice to participate. They went as far as to block off two streets that would have given us access at the back of the parade. Now going back to the size, their was a truck in the parade bigger then the V plus other floats that with the float being pulled made them bigger then the V also. (more…)
